Equipment in this room:
- Epson LCD multimedia projector
- Stereo receiver
- Computer
- Overhead projector
- VCR/DVD combo
To use the computer and LCD projector:
- Turn on the computer inside the a/v cabinet.
- Ensure that the “computer/laptop” switch on top of the cabinet is switched to “computer”.
- Turn on the projector by pressing the “Power” button on the Epson remote control while aiming the remote at the projector. The projector may take a minute to warm up. The remote can be found inside the a/v cabinet.
- If the computer image does not appear on the screen after the projector has warmed up, press the “Search Source” button on the Epson remote control while aiming at the projector.
- If computer audio is required, turn on the audio amplifier and adjust the Master Volume.
- When finished, turn off the computer. Turn off the projector by pressing the “Power” button on the remote control twice. Please ensure that the mouse and keyboard cables are coiled loosely and placed back on top of the a/v cabinet. Also ensure that the remote is returned to the cabinet and that the cabinet is locked.
To connect a laptop to the LCD projector:
- Connect the laptop to the VGA cable on the side of the a/v cabinet.
- Ensure that the “computer/laptop” switch is switched to “laptop”.
- Turn on the projector by pressing the “Power” button on the Epson remote control while aiming the remote at the projector. The projector may take a minute to warm up. The remote can be found inside the a/v cabinet.
- Turn on the laptop.
- If the computer image does not appear on the screen after the computer has fully loaded press the “Search Source” button on the remote control.
- If the computer’s image still does not appear on the projection screen, simultaneously press the FN key and the LCD/CRT key on the laptop. This may need to be repeated until the image appears on the projection screen. The LCD/CRT key can have many different appearances, but is always one of the function (e.g. F5, F7 or F8) keys at the top of the keyboard (see photo).
- To connect the laptop to the in-class audio system, connect the audio cable (attached to the VGA cable) to the laptop’s headphone jack. Ensure the laptop’s volume is up. Turn on the audio amplifier inside the a/v cabinet and adjust the volume using the large dial.
- When finished, turn off the projector by pressing the “Power” button on the remote twice. Please ensure that the remote is returned to the cabinet and that the cabinet is locked.
To play a VHS tape or DVD:
- Turn on the projector by pressing the “Power” button on the Epson remote control while aiming the remote at the projector. The projector may take a minute to warm up. The remote can be found inside the a/v cabinet.
- Press the “video” button on the remote control.
- Turn on the audio receiver and adjust the Master Volume.
- Turn on the DVD/VCR unit.
- Insert the DVD or VHS tape into the VCR/DVD player and press play.
- When finished, turn off the projector by pressing the “Power” button on the remote twice and ensure that the both the VCR/DVD player and LCD projector remotes are returned to the a/v cabinet and that the cabinet is locked.
**Note: When finished, turn off all equipment, return the remote(s) to the cabinet and lock the cabinet door.**
